Accessing Free Internet in Department of Nursing Building and Maximizing its Use

Everyone loves to hear free internet, yeah, here is the gospel you may not have heard about for nursing students. Unlimited internet access is available for students to use in the nursing departmental building. Students can access the internet by connecting their device Wi-fi to the “NURSING” public Wi-Fi in the department. The duration of access is based on the type of access card bought. This guide provides further explanation of the processes, as well as steps to maximize the use of free internet sessions while in the department.

Getting Access Cards (Intecu Card)

Intecu Cards can be purchased online via this link or by searching for “intecu card”
online, or gotten from other vendors selling the card at various locations on campus.

Available Internet Plans

The basic access of 4hours use costs 100-120 naira. This plan allows you to browse and download for good four hours, it is unlimited, meaning that there is no limit to what it can be used for. Other plans available are 500 naira and 1000 naira plans which last for about 3days. Always ensure to logout when you are not using the internet access.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Free Internet

  1. Get Intecu Card
  2. Connect to NURSING Wi-fi (or in other locations on campus, e.g. Health Sciences, PHARMACY)
  3. Visit https://gateway.oauife.edu.ng/login
  4. Enter the username and password of your intecu card to log in
  5. Your Internet will be connected.
  6. Monitor your time usage by visiting https://gateway.oauife.edu.ng/status

Sharing Your Internet Access

If your phone or Laptop allows you to turn on Wifi and Hotspot at the same time, you can turn on your device’s Hotspot and share your free internet with your other devices, or other students.

Maximising Free Internet for Academic Use

  1. Focus your internet use on resources that enhance learning. Utilize reputable sources like peer-reviewed journals, university pages, and AI Resources like Chat GPT, Gemini and Google Notebook LM. Search engines like Google Scholar are excellent for finding relevant academic literature.
  2. Leverage Online Learning Platforms: Take advantage of free online learning platforms and educational websites such as Khan Academy, Osmosis and others that offer courses, lectures, and study materials.
  3. Download YouTube Videos: Watching Youtube Lectures are good, but downloading them for watch later may be better, goto the YouTube video you want, copy the video link by right clicking or using the share button, take the link to sites that allow Youtube video downloads like SSYoutube or Savefrom
  4. Explore NUNSA OAU e-Library: Previous Class Materials, Video Links and textbooks are loaded into the NUNSA OAU e-Library, explore and download the relevant ones for your study at https://nunsa.oauife.edu.ng/library.
  5. Backup Your Files: You can backup your lecture notes, personal documents, projects, video materials on cloud storages like Google Drive, Mega.nz or Dropbox for later access.
  6. Time Management and Focus: Avoid non-academic distractions like social networking sites to improve concentration and productivity. Use apps or browser extensions (like the “SelfControl” app) to block distracting websites during study sessions.
